The Mitchell Ponseti® AFO PFS/TS is a combination of the PFS and TS models. It is recommended for patients with a more complex PEVA - clubfoot. The AFO has an articulated plantar flexion stop, which effectively limits plantar flexion. This is to maintain the desired position for the foot. The PSF function is also good for children with hyper-flexible feet as it ensures that the foot is always kept in a neutral or dorsiflexed position. The PFS/TS also has the feature of being used for short periods without a splint to help the patient maintain good dorsiflexion, which is done by stretching the Achilles tendon and helping to keep the foot flexible. This is achieved through the design where the front part of the sole is raised. The Mitchell Ponseti® AFO TS keeps the foot in a dorsiflexed position of 10 degrees. The patient needs to be walking for the AFO to have any effect without the use of the splint. The patented Mitchell Ponseti® system consists of AFO sandals that are attached to the adjustable splint, with built-in dorsal flexion. All in accordance with Ponseti's standard protocol. The AFO is specially designed to avoid chafing and blisters on the child's foot. It has a hard sole with a quick release that provides easy handling for the parent. A soft elastomer lining for extra comfort and compliance. The upper part and straps are made of soft synthetic leather. The location of the heel can easily be seen through the two holes on the back of the AFO. An important part is to get a perfect fit and optimal comfort.
