Description

This perlon (polyamide) stockinette is used in the lamination of orthoses and prosthetic components to create an even, smooth surface on the finished laminate. The material is pulled over the model together with resin and other reinforcement materials and acts both as a surface layer and as a supplementary layer in the laminate lay-up.

The perlon stockinette is very elastic and easily conforms to the contours of the model, making it easy to work with even on more complex shapes. The fine structure contributes to an even laminate and a smooth surface, which often reduces the need for finishing. The material is often used in combination with other reinforcement materials, such as fibreglass or carbon fibre, where the perlon layer helps stabilise the laminate and improve the surface finish.
